Dumbbell Pullover

These guys are a staple of the Golden Era of bodybuilding. They used to say “Want that hige barrel chest? Well, here’s how you get it.” kinda thing. In some ways that was really accurate. While it is mainly a lat building exercise, there is definitely some points of the lift that line up perfectly with the pectoral muscles and incorporate them into the movement. So, in building both lats and pecs, it does essentially give all-around mass to the upper body musculature surrounding the ribcage.

As always, start with a manageable weight. This one will def put torque on the shoulder joints; particularly in the fully flexed position (arms out over your head). Do your best to feel the lats engage by use of “pushing” your upper arm down into them to initiate the concentric part of the lift (bringing the dumbbell back from over your head to over your chest).
